Just The Kids
On Monday, we had a Grand Opening of LYRL (Lucy's Young Readers' Library). It took us a while to create the library, but we finally did it. Boy do I have a lot of books, 182! Enjoy our movie (sorry it is 16MB, but we had a lot to say).
I (Lily) finished my Pyramid Bag. I made it out of Lamb's Pride Bulky in Pink. I did it all by myself (Dad wrote the pattern, & Mom sewed the pictures on). What do you think?

My Label

The Pyramid Bag

How I Use It
We bought an Artist's Model.

I (Lucy) used it to draw these beautiful pictures of milkmaids.

And this picture too.

We invented a new recipe this week. It is for No-Bake Applesauce Pie.

It tastes better than it looks, and that's a fact! Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
4 Apple Cereal Bars
Approx. 1 cup Applesauce
Whipped Cream (optional)
Directions:
1. In a small sized bowl, crush 3 Apple Cereal Bars. Smooth with a spoon covering the edges of the bowl.
2. Add the Applesauce into the crust you made.
3. Crumble 1 Apple Cereal Bar on top of Applesauce. Smooth into a top crust.
4. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.
5. Add Whipped Cream if you like.
6. Eat! Yum!
Let us know if you try it out & if you think it is as yummy as we do.
That's all. Blog you later!

What better study break from library school homework than a movie about libraries!
I think I need to check out Ozma of Oz, I've lost my copy...
Congratulations on the opening of the library. Nice selection of reading material. Your recipe sounds delicious. I wish I had read your blog before grocery shopping today! Next time...
Hi Lucy and Lily!
First of all, great job on the library and especially the movie. My favorite part was when Lucy made the library card and said You're name is Lily Hall Hartley, right? Acting at it's finest. I also really liked when Lily tried to fix the books that were falling in the bookcase but then they kept falling anyway and you just closed it up. It was the kind of thing that was funny and cute even though you probably weren't trying to be. The recipe sounds delicious, and it's perfect for the summer because you don't have to turn on the oven!
My favorite picture is the picture of the milkmaid milking the cow. That cow is so delighted! Max has an artist's model, but I never really knew what it was used for until I read this post. Now I see that you use it to pose into milking positions and such. Lily your pyramid bag is beautiful! Did you choose the pictures on it? Which photos are they?
Oh one more thing- I was wondering- what's the special library card paper made out of?
Kiki- you could have gotten the label that said "Ernestine" and just mailed it in! What was the name on the label that we were supposed to mail in? Greta? Gertrude? I can't remember.
That recipe sounds delicious! It is so inventive. And I really like how the instructions make a lot of sense, I wish knitting patterns were as explanatory. Like you say that the crumbles are for the crust, which to some might seem obvious, but not to me! Same thing in knitting patterns where they give you an instruction, but don't really say what is FOR-- does that make sense? So I applaud you on the very well written recipe. I hope to read your knitting patterns in the future!
I always used to have libraries. Still do. But I read this really great book called "Lila on the Landing" which is all about a girl who has a lending library on the landing of her apartment building.
You girls are just way too cool!! Your very own library, how fun is that? I loved the grand opening movie- Once again, my 2 little "Hollywoods". The whole entry was great - 2 of my 3 favorite things - books and recipes. Now you just need to add board games and our lives would be complete! Anyway, ladies - keep up the good work and have loads of fun- life's great being a kid! Hugs to you all! :)
